Tasnim Jara Raises Tk 3.7 Million in Donations Within 22 Hours

Dr. Tasnim Jara, senior joint member secretary of the National Citizen Party (NCP), has witnessed an overwhelming response from voters and supporters after seeking financial assistance for her election campaign in Dhaka-9 constituency.

On Tuesday night (December 23), she revealed through a verified Facebook post that she raised Tk 3.7 million in donations within only 22 hours of launching the fundraising campaign.

Expressing gratitude, Tasnim Jara wrote that the love and spontaneous support from people exceeded her expectations. She mentioned that the maximum allowable election expenditure for a candidate in Dhaka-9—which includes Khilgaon, Sabujbagh, and Mugda—is Tk 4.693 million. Once the remaining Tk 900,000 is collected, the fundraising campaign will officially be closed.

The campaign began on Monday night when she shared a video message on Facebook requesting financial support from voters, well-wishers, and supporters. By early Tuesday morning, she posted again, expressing surprise at the unprecedented public response.

In a later post, she informed followers that the bKash account limit had been reached around 2:00 am, requesting donors to use the designated bank account instead. She declined suggestions to open multiple mobile financial service accounts, citing transparency and accountability concerns.

Dr. Jara emphasized that maintaining a single bKash and bank account ensures clear financial records, avoids audit complications, and allows easy verification by authorities such as the Election Commission.

She also reiterated her commitment to transparency, stating that no cash donations are being accepted, all transactions are digitally traceable, and detailed expenditure reports will be shared with the public and submitted to the Election Commission.
