The 11-party electoral alliance, comprising Islamist and nationalist political parties, has finalized its seat-sharing arrangement for the upcoming 13th National Parliamentary Election. The announcement was made during a press conference held on Thursday night at the Institution of Diploma Engineers in Dhaka.
Jamaat-e-Islami’s Nayeb-e-Ameer Dr. Syed Abdullah Mohammad Taher stated that Jamaat will contest the highest number of seats—179 constituencies. The National Citizen Party (NCP) will field candidates in 30 seats. Other alliance partners include Bangladesh Khelafat Majlish with 20 seats, Khelafat Majlish with 10, Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) with 7, Amar Bangladesh Party (AB Party) with 3, Nezam-e-Islam Party with 2, and Bangladesh Development Party (BDP) with 2 seats.
A total of 253 candidates from 10 parties have been announced so far. The remaining seats will be finalized following negotiations with Islami Andolon Bangladesh.
Prominent leaders present at the press conference included Jamaat Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman, NCP Convener Nahid Islam, LDP President Colonel (Retd.) Oli Ahmed Bir Bikrom, Bangladesh Khelafat Majlish Ameer Maulana Mamunul Haque, AB Party Chairman Mojibur Rahman Manju, and JAGPA spokesperson Rashed Pradhan.
Political analysts believe this alliance and seat distribution could significantly influence electoral dynamics and reshape opposition politics in the upcoming election.
