Deadly Fire in Uttara Seven-Storey Building Kills Three, Including Women

A severe fire erupted in a residential apartment located on the second floor of a seven-storey building in Sector 11 of Uttara, Dhaka, on Friday (January 16) morning around 7:50 am. The blaze claimed the lives of three individuals on the spot—two women and one man. Their identities could not be confirmed immediately.

According to Talha Bin Jasim, Acting Officer of the Fire Service and Civil Defence media cell, the fire service received the alert at 7:54 am. Two units from the Uttara Fire Station rushed to the scene and began firefighting operations at 7:58 am. After nearly half an hour of effort, the fire was brought under control at around 8:25 am and was completely extinguished by 10:00 am.

Firefighters rescued 13 people alive from different floors of the building and transported them to Kuwait Maitree Hospital for medical treatment. The cause of the fire and the extent of damage have not yet been determined.

Authorities confirmed that both the Fire Service and law enforcement agencies have launched investigations to determine the cause of the fire and assess responsibility.
