Cold Wave Grips 21 Districts as Dense Fog Lowers Temperatures Across Bangladesh

Dense fog has continued to blanket large parts of Bangladesh for several days, intensifying the winter chill across the country. Although fog slightly eased in some areas, including the capital, on Wednesday morning, temperatures dropped further. Gopalganj recorded the lowest temperature of the season, while a mild to moderate cold wave is currently affecting 21 districts across two divisions.

According to a forecast issued by the Bangladesh Meteorological Department on Wednesday, the weather is expected to remain dry with temporarily partly cloudy skies across the country until 9:00am on Thursday. However, moderate to dense fog may form in many places from midnight to morning, and in some areas it may persist until noon. Due to the dense fog, temporary disruptions to air travel, inland water transport, and road communication are likely.

The meteorological department reported that districts including Madaripur, Gopalganj, Rajshahi, Pabna, Sirajganj, and several areas in the Khulna and Barishal divisions are experiencing mild to moderate cold wave conditions, which may continue in some regions. Night temperatures are expected to remain nearly unchanged, while daytime temperatures may rise slightly. Despite this, the cold feeling is likely to persist due to the foggy conditions.

The forecast further indicates that from Friday to Sunday, the weather across the country may remain dry with partly cloudy skies. During this period, moderate to dense fog may form in some areas from midnight to morning. Night temperatures may increase slightly, while daytime temperatures are expected to remain almost unchanged.

The Bangladesh Meteorological Department has advised people to remain cautious, especially during early morning hours, as the ongoing cold wave and dense fog continue to affect normal life.
